LA Times – What the Critics Wrote About the Beatles in 1964

Like anyone who understands good music, I hold the opinion that the Beatles were the most significant popular music act of the 20th century, and, depending on what standards by which you measure significance, perhaps the most significant in recorded history.

Much of what we learn of their careers is filtered through nostalgic retrospectives, like the must-watch Anthology. But in an article posted by Cary Schneider at the LA Times, we are treated to a snapshot of critics’ reactions to the then-young Beatles phenomenon. See it here:
